The Power of Serendipity, Luck & Letting Go
It could also be called…
Less hubris and more humility!
When it comes to building and experiencing real wealth, the kind that fuels freedom, fulfilment, and joy, there’s a sneaky lie we’ve been sold.
That it’s all up to us.
That if we just work hard enough, hustle more, stay focused, push through, prove our worth, then we’ll “make it”.
Hell, I swallowed this hook, line and sinker!
If it’s to be, it’s up to me.
And the challenge is that that part is true.
But what I also believe is that all the great stuff in my life was also "because of me”.
What I know now is:
- Serendipity is real.
- Luck plays a huge role in the life experience we each get to have.
- The universe is full of opportunities, whether we see them or not.
- And our joy is not dependent on our circumstances.
🍀 The Luck We Don’t Control
Of course, our actions matter.
But if we only focus on our own effort, we limit the magic.
We shrink our path to what we already know, and cut ourselves off from the unpredictable, wild beauty of a universe that is, I believe, deeply benevolent and rooting for us.
Case in point?
🎯 I got my book deal with Hay House because I joined a mastermind.
I showed up. I said yes.
But the opportunity, the connection, the timing, the “what if”, that was pure serendipity.
I also didn’t join the Mastermind to get a book deal.
Nic often says I am very lucky on game drives, and I get to see the most fabulous sightings.
I do.
I am in wonder of the vast creativity and abundance of life and deeply grateful that I get to experience so much of it.
I look up and out. I notice and stop to look.
And I go out on game drives, over and over, with no requirement to see anything in particular.
I put myself into the flow of life,
with open anticipation but no expectation.
I say yes again. And again. And again.
To be delighted, to be surprised, to be awed.
And I am.

Luck Follows Those Who Participate
See, here’s the paradox:
Yes, you create your life.
And you co-create with forces beyond your control.
When you believe in luck, not as magical thinking, but as an awareness of opportunity, you start to see more of it.
You make room for it.
You move when it whispers.
You look again when you see a glimpse of it out of the corner of your eye.
You don’t miss it because you’re too busy trying to white-knuckle your way forward.
You don’t sit on the sidelines waiting to be 100% ready.
You say:
“Wow. This thing just showed up. It feels like a stretch. It’s damn inconvenient right now, I’m scared. But I’m saying YES.”
And that’s the work.
That’s the dance of a wealthy life.
Luck Requires Awareness
People who don’t make room for luck are often shocked at how unlucky they feel.
But luck isn’t just for the chosen few.
It’s not about silver spoons or golden tickets.
It’s about noticing.
It’s about the lens you see through.
It’s about showing up, saying yes, and trusting that life is happening with you, not to you.
And sometimes, what looks like “bad luck”… is exactly what unlocks your next expansion.
Your Job Isn’t To Control It All
You can’t control your starting point.
You can’t control who shows up or how the winds shift.
But you can influence your trajectory:
- By staying open.
- By being very discerning about the meaning you give things.
- By remembering, your circumstances do NOT define who you are.
- By trusting randomness.
- By remembering that.. “The planning is everything, but the plan is nothing.”
- By walking through doors when they open, even if your knees are shaking.
- By saying no to your familiar suffering (which often feels like a comfy blanket)
Luck will never replace the work, but it will amplify the work you choose to do - if you let it.
Letting it in also means acknowledging it.
Acknowledging it means being grateful.
Acknowledging it means having a wealthy dose of humility when it comes to all the advantages you have and making the most of them.
So here’s to dancing with the universe.
To showing up with full permission to co-create something wilder and more beautiful than we could ever create alone.
Nic and the love and eros I get to explore with him feels like a miracle to me.
I made myself available for deep love.
I let myself feel vulnerable and a bit crazy.
I “put” myself out there.
I was also clear about what I wanted and didn’t want!
I didn’t get distracted by attention and chose to focus on love and deep connection.
I said yes to my deep desire or to something even better!
That's the key part.
Are you open to what you say you really want, OR SOMETHING EVEN BETTER?
If you want wonder in your life, you have to be humble enough to presume you don’t know it all and that some of the most amazing things that will happen for you are beyond your current comprehension.
Stop limiting your life to your current awareness.
Let life wow you!
With big love and gratitude,
Ann x
